A WPA2 personal network, a passphrase, and MAC authentication. There are plenty of practical reasons to have. A MAC address is an identification code used to define physical devices in a network so that the system knows which PCs are engaged in communication. Each of the eight characters of the default passphrase are created by substituting a corresponding hex-digit of the WAN MAC address using a static substitution table. The data source of the MAC address database used in this tool is from IEEE 1. The string entered into the tool is case-insensitive. If you want to find a list of MAC address prefixes based on the manufacturer, simply enter the full or part of the company name, for example, apple or Apple Computer, Inc. Because MAC addresses can be imitated by a knowledgeable person MAC address filtering. ![]() If you frequently add new devices to your network, MAC address filtering can become inconvenient and time consuming. Using MAC address filtering requires that you manually enter the 12-character MAC address of every device that will be managed on your network. ![]()
